The Sea Animal Project

When this 4s class took a trip to our local aquarium to see an IMAX movie about pyjama sharks, The Sea Animal Project was born. The children were inspired to share stories about sea animals they had seen and touched and were curious about many more. As their list of questions grew, the teachers realized that each child had a specific animal of interest so the project individualized around a common theme. Using books, video, and hands-on experiences, each child investigated a sea animal and worked to find out the answers to their questions. Each child made a detailed model of their animal in its habitat and contributed a page to a class book about sea animals that now lives in our library for everyone to enjoy.
